Job Description

This is a key position within the architecture group of network switching at a global company. The Network Switching group is responsible for development of enterprise core and metro, aggregation, access, SMB and data center products.

You will have wide latitude and responsibility in making contributions in several of the following areas involving network switching architecture and related technologies:

You will leverage a strong understanding of high performance switching, buffer management, traffic management, and congestion management to drive feature definition from the system level down to the chip level. You will be responsible for defining Metro and Data Center related features.

Job Requirements :

- MS or PhD in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering is required along with a very strong knowledge in Networking systems and 10 years of related experience.

- In-depth knowledge of switching, system buffer architectures, traffic management and congestion management is required.

- Solid background to drive detail definitions and work with engineering team to arrive at cost is required.

- Strong communication and documentation skills is essential.

- Experience with TCP.

- Proficient in C++/C, Perl, Python, Tcl.

- Experience with simulation tools such as NS-2, Opnet, and SystemC.

- Ability to shape product roadmap from a technical, standards, and technology point of view is required.

- Strong knowledge of IEEE standards, IETF standards, metro requirements and translation to product requirements is highly desirable.

- Good judgment in tradeoff analysis is essential.

In addition, you must posses strong performance analysis skills, capable of identifying performance bottlenecks and issues within complex switching systems and algorithms. You will be responsible for performance modeling efforts required to support performance analysis that drives feature requirements and that are used to address customer requests.

Possessing excellent communication skills, you will interact with many customers and drive technical presentations. Being in a position to understand customer requirements, you will make proposals and support customer technical engagements utilizing your understanding of customer applications and trends and how these map to product definition.

You will also be responsible to produce excellent collateral – presentations, internal architecture documents, white papers and application notes on the product capabilities and its applications.

You will participate in and exert influence on relevant standards bodies. You will develop a network with professionals outside of the company as well establish key technical relationships with our customers.

You will work within the various members of the architecture and engineering team to provide guidance in feature definition and tradeoffs. You will also provide technical assistance to various teams in terms of consultation, direction, process improvements and productivity improvements.
